Partnership principles

Working Together for Dignity at Work

We express our support for the project, which is jointly funded by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform and Unite the Union, and give our commitment to work together to achieve its aim.

Project Aim
To encourage employee representatives and employers to build cultures in which respect for individuals is regarded as an essential part of the conduct of all those who work in the organisation. The project will also increase awareness and knowledge of 'dignity at work' issues, and encourage the development of partnership working in the workplace through the promotion of joint working on dignity at work.

Through the partnership, we will work together to devise and promote a voluntary charter on dignity at work, which will incorporate international, and UK good practice standards. The charter will be supported by suggested policies and procedures, training and materials to support internal communications and profile raising work. We will have the opportunity to access support, share best practice and influence the materials that will be produced through participation in regional seminars and the use of a specifically designed website.

The principle of working together between employers and employees is fundamental and we will collaborate and contribute to the promotion of the project in tangible ways within our organisation. To advance the aim of this project, it is expected that employees are involved in workplaces, including through their trade unions and representation structures. By joining the Dignity at Work Partnership, we agree that we are committed to a wider dissemination of the lessons learned by the project, in the interests of the wider workplace community.
